I'm not looking forward to it, too much. Maybe because I know that the only way to fail is to quit, but there's still a sense of it being little more than an unpleasant formality.

Maybe I'll just have to look at it another way. Here's an opportunity to show my best.

Not to say that either way, it's gonna hurt.

Pretty good in forms. Second place.
Sucked at my maneuvers. Didn't place.
Good, then so-so, then good again in sparring. Third place (out of five competitors, so it's not that impressive).

But it was fun and a new experience. So I'm gonna chalk this up as a success.

And now I'm going to go to bed, because frankly, I'm tired.

Most like to get eliminated first thing. Maybe my "eh" attitude towards it will turn into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

It's been about ten months since I started going to martial arts class, and I've been doing pretty well with it. Gradually, I've gotten better, to the point where, whenever we put the sparring pads on, I'm better than about 75% of the people there. This is okay, and I don't mind not being on top. I am also incredibly anxious about my belt testing tonight, as I nearly died the last three times this happened... but no pain, no gain.

I have also decided that tiptoe39 is the most wonderful woman on the face of the planet.

Because of a lack of Capcom World Tournament, I've decided to seek a martial arts game going on in my area through yahoogroups (of all things...)
